Categories & Format

Team Structure:

• Each team can have up to 5 Total Members - Four & Captain

• After team announcements are made, team members cannot be modified or substituted.

Competition Structure:

• Teams compete across five rounds:

  • Captains Introductions

    • The Captains Introductions is about who can start their team off strong and bring the energy that carries them throughout the night and, hopefully, to Gold.

  • Dark Comedy Decathlon

    • The Dark Comedy Decathlon tests your ability to take taboo or uncomfortable topics and transform them into high-level, intelligent humor. We want fearless jokes with sharp writing and intentionality, not careless shock value.

  • Creative Performance Showcase

    • This is the imagination round. Comedians can use parody, (non-copyright) musical comedy, prop comedy, characters, impressions, or any creative twist that shows off range and originality. Bring something memorable that no one else could do but you.

  • Crowd Work Combat

    • This round is all about spontaneity and control of the room. Your job is to interact with the audience, create moments, improvise, and show that you can handle anything thrown your way with charisma and quick wit.

  • Roast Showdown

    • The final round is a head-to-head roast where comedians go joke-for-joke. This is not about being mean — it’s about punchline accuracy, creativity, and controlled heat. Sharp roasts, clever angles, and undeniable crowd reaction are what win this category.
      

Awards & Prizes:

• Each Category will have a Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal Winner.

  • Gold is scored at 3pts.

  • Silver is scored at 2pts.

  • Bronze is scored at 1pt.

• Each teams scores will be tallied to determine the Gold Medal Laughs: Overall Gold Medal Team.

• Team Award

  • $500 Cash Prize that is to be split between the Overall Gold Winners (Captain and Team Members)
